Muhammad Asghar Saqib graduated in Electrical Engineering from UET, Lahore, in 1991. He worked at NESPAK and Pakistan WAPDA for three years as Junior Engineer. In February 1994, he received the Australian government’s AusAID scholarship and completed his Master's and PhD in Electrical Engineering from University of Sydney in 1996 and 2000, respectively. He joined GIK Institute as Assistant Professor in 1999 and became Associate Professor and Dean, Faculty of Electronics Engineering, in 2005. Later that year, he joined UET, Lahore, as Associate Professor on Tenure Track System and became Tenured Professor in 2017. He retired as Professor and Chairman, Department of Electrical Engineering, UET, Lahore, on 14 April 2025. Since then, he has been working as a Professor in the Department of Computer Science, School of Systems and Technology, at UMT, Lahore. His research interests include smart grids, computing applications in engineering systems, numerical computing, and renewable energy.
