Biography

I joined UMT as an Assistant Professor in September 2010 and completed my PhD in Electrical Engineering from UMT in 2024, with research in image analysis and computer vision. I have over 27 years of experience in industry and academia. As a Divisional Engineer at ICC, I worked on the design, erection, and commissioning of EHV transmission lines and grid stations. As a team lead at ICCSoft, I led the development of web-based enterprise management systems that are in use in Pakistan and abroad. I also served as a Research Assistant at LUMS for two years during my PhD coursework. I am the Principal Investigator of an HEC-NRPU research grant of PKR 18.7 million (proposal No. 143787-121, titled “Developing a Prostate Cancer Histopathology Slide Images Dataset and a). The project is developing Pakistan's first expert-annotated prostate cancer histopathology dataset and an AI-based diagnostic tool, in collaboration with KEMU and Mayo Hospital, Lahore.
