SST-UMT Secures Prestigious HEC NRPU Research Grant

The School of Systems and Technology (SST), University of Management and Technology (UMT) has secured a competitive research grant under the Higher Education Commission’s National Research Program for Universities (NRPU) 2025–26.
The funded project, titled “Developing a Prostate Cancer Histopathology Slide Images Dataset and an AI-Based Diagnostic Software Tool for Prostate Cancer Grading and Perineural Invasion Detection,” is led by Dr. Muhammad Asim Butt, Assistant Professor at SST–UMT. The project was selected through a rigorous national evaluation process, reflecting its strong academic merit, innovation, and potential societal impact.
The research is expected to contribute significantly to the fields of health, biotechnology, and AI-driven diagnostic systems, supporting advancements in computer-aided medical solutions.
Congratulating the achievement, Dr. Atif Alvi, Dean SST, highlighted that this success reflects SST’s growing research strength and its commitment to addressing real-world challenges through innovation.
